Social Distancing Care Package

The experiences we are going through amidst this global pandemic are ones that we have never experienced and will hopefully never experience again. We know that this time may be extremely stressful for you and your families as our daily lives change drastically. The NAMI Care Club executive board has created this Social Distancing Care Package to provide resources and activities that may be helpful during this time. Whether you are looking for a good meditation app or a fun activity to do, this virtual care package is just what you need!

 

Intellectually Stimulating: It is hard to learn at home. Here is a list of websites, videos, and articles that may be good resources to help you study during this time.

  • Crash Course: Two brothers explain the basics and big issues of topics ranging from engineering to world mythology.

  • Khan Academy: Visual videos to aid in the learning of math, science, and the humanities.

  • AP Review: Online AP Classes and review sessions from the College Board

  • The Libby App: We understand that lots of libraries are closed right now. But, you can access thousands of ebooks and audiobooks for free through Libby! All you need is a library card.

Exercise Videos: Exercise is a great way to help improve your physical health during this time, and there is more than one way you can do this. Check out the following video and see which form of exercise works best for you!

  • Workout for Women: Includes numerous free workouts for every muscle group and specific COVID-19 immune system boosters.

Mental Health

Meditation

  • Learn mindfulness and how to calm your body by practicing meditation! Apps Headspace and Insight Timer are both provide great guided meditations for any situation.

Manage Screen Time

  • Multiple studies have shown that distance from screens results in improved mental health. When you download apps such as Flora and Plantie, seeds are planted based on the amount of time you spend away from your phone. Not only are you improving your mental health, but you’re also helping the environment!

Social Calendar

  • IRL- Social Calendar: This app gives you ideas for what to do based on your location. It helps you make plans with friends (from a distance) and helps you find good places to visit around you.

 

We hope these resources help you find a sense of normalcy during this time. Stay safe and healthy during this time, and don’t forget to social distance!
